Modern, Stellar Wine Cellar Design Ideas From Master Designers

Ever since wine storage rooms have become highly-valuable features of properties, the quest to having unique wine cellar designs has become an enjoyable task for both home and business owners — and we understand that!

That’s why we always strive to help our owners come up with the unique and satisfying wine cellar design ideas that are unmatched and mirrors their personality or their preferences. We see every wine cellar we design we make as something personal for the owner,  so we really take the time to get to know our clients more as well.

In this article, let’s look at the designs of master wine cellar designers and dedicated wine cellar specialists who understand how to combine science and art to create the right wine cellar for every home or business.

Wine Cellar Design Ideas For A Diverse Collection

One of the projects we’re quite astonished with is this modern glass wine cellar because of the things the designer did differently. One of the things they did differently is a new lighting panel that they just brought out into the industry. It is a very cool concept wherein light panels are on a stand off with a piece of white acrylic sheet in front. The acrylic board diffuses the light. In a very soft way, ensuring that any onlooker will still be able to read the labels without being dazed by the abundance of light inside the cellar.

They then used triple-deep wine cellar pegs in brushed chrome finish to hold the bottles. The pegs were mounted onto the main wall, through the acrylic LED board. And because this was a custom wine cellar, they were able to bore holes into the acrylic boards first so the pegs could fit right in.

They added wooden wine shelves on the lower half of the wine wall. The shelves were made from Alder wood stained in black. One of the most useful aspects of this cellar is that the racks have spaces for different sizes of bottles. While the metal racks accommodate standard-sized, 750ml bottles, the wooden shelves were designed to welcome magnum-sized bottles. They combined an assortment of storage configurations, including X bins and magnum horizontal racks. A custom, open display box also sits at the center of the wine wall and it can hold a 6-liter bottle.

When it comes to conceptualizing unique design ideas for your wine cellar, whether it’d be traditional, modern, or a combination of both, working with a contractor who specializes in wine cellars is an investment worth making!

A Cigar Humidor and Wine Cellar In One

If you’re a wine and cigar enthusiast, our second featured wine cellar just might make you bounce off the walls because it’s a wine cellar and cigar humidor in one enclosed space! The client for this wine cellar was a couple where the wife loved wines and the husband was more into cigars. Since cigars also has to be stored in a climate-controlled environment,  the designer found a way to create a cellar that was suitable for both their hobbies.

Apart from laying out the foundations of a wine cellar — insulation, vapor barrier, cooling unit — they brought in a recirculating humidifier wherein the machine replenishes itself instead of having the homeowners constantly refill the water. It was a custom humidifier and they hid it inside one of the sub-closing drawers.

Similar to the 1st project we featured, this wine cellar features metal peg wine racks, and custom wooden shelves to make way for bigger bottles. At the center of the modern wine wall was a cigar cabinet. The exterior of the cigar cabinet was made of Alder wood, while the inner shelves were made from Spanish cedar.

The wooden cabinet was partially enclosed in glass, just like the entire wine cellar where the front side was all glass cladded!

To beautifully illuminate the wine display, they installed custom acrylic LED lighting controlled by a Lutron system. A Lutron System is an automated lighting system that allows you to control light remotely. The owners can dim the cellar even if they don’t go near the it, or increase its white light so brightness sprawls through their dining area.

Access to new and emerging wine cellar technologies is one of the many benefits of working with professionals who are trained and experienced in the wine cellar-making industry. We can incorporate advanced technologies even in a traditional, old-world style wine cellar if you prefer it!

Ideas for Contemporary Living Room Wine Cellar

A living room wall was maximized by building a glass enclosed wine cellar that stood out as a centerpiece for the room. This modern wine closet was massive enough for anyone to walk inside and decant their wines comfortable while in the room.

One of the striking features of this contemporary glass wine cellar was the use of an advanced lighting design in both the wall and the wooden racks. The innovative acrylic LED panel was used as a backdrop, spanning the entire wall and that gave the cellar a unique character even in broad daylight.

The same lighting innovation was cut and shaped to create the base of the shelves. When bottles are stored in these shelves, light illuminates from the bottom, passing through the clear glass bottles, allowing the color of the wines to pop out even more.
