Their XLT Series was one of the most popular refrigeration units. However, with their aim to improve their products, they decided to replace it with the Self-Contained (SC) Pro Series wine cooling units. It integrates the latest technologies in an all-new housing design at an affordable price.

With the improvement in the features, components, and performance, the SC Pro Series refrigeration units are undoubtedly the perfect option for small to mid-sized wine cellars.

1. Thicker, Larger Coils

These provide increased capacity for refrigerating a wine cellar.  These now over-sized coils create a greater and more effective heat dissipation profile on the condenser side of the refrigeration units, which is usually where problems can arise in most cooling systems. As poor performance in cooling units is frequently linked to insufficient ventilation, thicker and larger coils are a significant design improvement.

2. Powerful Airflow with a New Blower Fan System

The XLT Series had axial fans. A greater and more energetic airflow is now achieved by advantageously mounting the fans at an angle of 45 degrees oriented upward.  This engineering improvement provides greater distribution of air inside the cooled room, assuring that refrigerated air is delivered evenly throughout the wine storage area.

On the condenser side of the cooling unit, clients now have the option of mounting the unit flush to the wall or (the favored method) mounting the WhisperKOOL SC Pro wine cellar cooling units extended into the venting room by five inches.  This new installing option enables the fan side of the unit to more effectively dissipate heat by locating it further away from or the cooling unit, thus circulating the airflow more efficiently and maximizing performance. Moreover, the new and improved fan blower system minimizes noise production, resulting in a quieter operation.

3. Upgraded Intelligent Controller Unit

The upgraded Intelligent (I) controller unit is also a significant advancement over the prior PDT series controller unit.  This new controller continuously checks the performance of the refrigeration unit and then makes needed adjustments should adverse conditions occur (such as a clogged condenser coil) risking damage or compromising the WhisperKOOL wine cellar cooling units ability to operate effectively.  An alarm function will inform the owner should a problem occur, and the “easy to use” keypad will show a specific code linked to remedying the problem.

4. More Elegant Look

It has to be said that the new SC Series has a more ‘designed’ look, improving its aesthetics in a wine cellar display area.  A very tough and durable coating inside and out of the unit protects its structural integrity, improving the longevity of the chassis for many years.

5.Condensate Management System

The unit’s coil produces up to 3 ounces of condensate per hour, so WhisperKOOL added a condensate evaporator for the effective management of the condensate. The evaporator is a heating element that evaporates the condensate accumulated in the refrigeration system.

A drain line tube is required as a backup system to the condensate evaporator to prevent overflow and leakage caused by excess condensation in areas with extreme humidity.

6. TXV expansion valve

The SC Pro Series cooling units by WhisperKOOL also utilize the smart-metering TXV valve to ensure optimum performance by managing the refrigeration flow through the system. The condenser intake should not be more than 85 degrees Fahrenheit to keep the temperature at 55 degrees Fahrenheit. It is the reason SC Pro Series units are not suitable for outdoor installations.

7. Liquid-Temperature-Measuring Thermostat

WhisperKOOL wine cooling units are equipped with liquid-measuring thermostat systems or bottle probe. It has a sensor chip that communicates with the thermostat to give an accurate and consistent temperature setting. Measuring the liquid temperature precisely will ensure your wine cooling unit is turned on when the temperature of your wine goes up to a certain point.
