Orange County Custom Wine Rack Assembly

In this project, Coastal Custom Wine Cellars built a custom wine cellar for a client who loves to entertain friends and host wine-tasting parties. She could only store a few bottles in her house since she did not have a dedicated wine cellar for her favorite wines. She used to travel about 20 miles to access her wines from a storage facility. She later decided to invest in a wine room for her growing wine collection.

In this video, we learn how fun it can be to watch paint dry, at least when the paint in question is part of your very own wine room taking shape! Learn how the client enjoyed pre-assembling her wood wine racks and how the wine cellar cooling unit was installed. Also, see how the wine bottles perfectly fit into the racking.
Our Wine Geek is so enthusiastic she sets up an upstream video of her assembling the racking herself!  There were about 30 people in the room watching. Each component was assembled unit garage and brought to the wine room. The contractor divided the racking into small sections for convenience in moving the wine storage racks to the wine room.

The wine cellar installer made a couple of faux pas by painting the wine cooling unit. Apparently, the contractor did not like the silver finish, which would get hidden anyway! Then there was a footer in the closet that had to be removed in order to fit the racking. We get to see the color of the wood species used to make the racking and how it appears to change color according to the lighting. Finally, the impact of the lighting was really demonstrated…

The assembly manual consisted of multiple pages with photos of the walls with detailed instructions. It was easy to follow, allowing the client and the contractor to determine where each wine rack component would go.

Wine Racks and Lighting Perfect for the Orange County Custom Wine Cellar

Combining custom and semi-custom wine racks helped us create a stunning wine display that could accommodate the specific needs of the client. We customized one of the wine racks to accommodate champagne and other large format bottles.

The wine racks were manufactured using Premium Redwood, a type of wood known for its natural pinkish color that becomes deeper over time. Its non-aromatic quality, durability, ability to withstand highly humid conditions, and high resistance to decay and warping, make it widely used in wine room construction.

For the lighting system, we installed three types of lights: LED ribbon wine cellar lighting, recessed can lights, and track lights. We installed the LED ribbon lighting above the high-reveal display row. The recessed lights were installed on the ceiling to provide an ample amount of light for mobbing around the Orange County custom wine cellar. The directional or track lights were intended to highlight specific areas in the wine cellar. The lights are all on a dimmer switch to allow the client to control the mood inside her residential wine cellar.

We offer different types of wine cellar lighting systems. We use LED lights to protect our client’s wines from too much exposure to heat and light.
