Inspiring Library Style Custom Wine Cellar in California Designed for More than 4,000 Bottles
Library Style Custom Wine Cellar Built in a California Home
Coastal Custom Wine Cellars successfully completed a large-scale, residential custom wine cellar project on the Newport Coast between Laguna Beach & Newport Beach in California. The design was unique and inventive, converting a 13 x 20 x 10 feet room into a cellar capable of storing more than 4,000 wine bottles. The company undertook an on-site visit to evaluate the client’s needs and drew up 3D designs for review. After some adjustments, they began construction in July 2011 and, due to pre-assembled components, completed the installation within a week. The client expressed delight with the outcome, praising the company’s expertise, creativity, and understanding of custom wine cellar design and construction.
In California, a client contacted Coastal Custom Wine Cellars to transform a space in their home into an elegant wine storage and display area with unique features. The space was large, and we did our best to create an eye-catching and inspiring wine cellar design, incorporating unique features and installing high-quality components.
Library Style Custom Wine Cellar in California with an Inspiring Design
This large residential custom wine cellar in California on the Newport Coast between Laguna Beach & Newport Beach is an inventive and inspired design. Coastal Custom Wine Cellars was so pleased to be part of this home wine cellar project. When the client contacted us, we were excited because we would be involved in another extensive project.
For us, every project is fun and exciting. We scheduled an on-site visit and made a careful assessment of the client’s needs. We took into consideration the various factors that would help us determine the components that fit the requirements.
We created 3-dimensional drawings, which we submitted to the client for review. Some changes were made before we finalized the design and started the construction in July 2011. One of the reasons that made us complete the custom wine cellar installation in just one week is the full assembly of the components from the factory.
With measurements of 13 feet x 20 feet x 10 feet, we converted the room into an attractive and unique custom wine cellar. We came up with a racking design capable of storing more than 4,000 wine bottles, consisting of distinctive features.
The client was very delighted with the result. We used our extensive experience, creativity, and knowledge in custom wine cellar design and construction to exceed their expectations.
Elegant and Earthquake-Proof Library Style Custom Wine Racks
Earthquake Proof Wine Racks Library Style Custom Wine Cellar California
We installed floor-to-ceiling wine racks, going up to the ceiling with a height of 10 feet. The custom wine racks in this project were designed like a traditional library with bookcases. We created two aisles where the owners and their guests could peruse the different vintages stored in the wine racks. You will pass by a series of arched passages before reaching the lattice arch display at the left end of the wine cellar.
The wine racks in the cubicles consist of the following racking styles:
- Single bottle storage for storing the bottle with the cap or cork facing out.
- High reveal display row for highlighting some of the client’s favorite vintages, pitching the bottles at an angle to keep the cork moist.
- Wooden case storage bins for storing bottles in wine cases
- Horizontal wine racks for standard bottles (750ml) and large format bottles (1.5L, 3L, and 6L)
Since California is an earthquake-prone state, we wanted to secure the bottles when the ground is shaking. The wine racks are tilted backward to minimize the vibration caused by the earthquake and reduce the chance of falling.
Library Rolling Ladder for Easy Access to the Wines Located in Hard-to-Reach Areas
3-Dimensional Design Library Style Custom Wine Cellar
Coastal Custom Wine Cellars installed library-rolling ladders so that the owners could have easy access to the bottles located in hard-to-reach areas in the tall wine racks. We also included a track attached to the racking for moving the ladder from one wall to another conveniently. When not in use, the owners could keep them in storage niches we created
Wine Cellar Cooling System
Installing a wine cellar cooling unit requires the help of a professional. At Coastal Custom Wine Cellars, we always aim to create a safe wine storage facility for every client. We understand the adverse effects of exposing the wines to too much heat, excessive light, and varying humidity levels.
To regulate the conditions inside a refrigerated wine cellar, we make sure that it is well constructed, and that a reliable wine refrigeration system is installed. Keep in mind that the key to preserving the desirable characteristics of your wines is creating the ideal wine storage environment.
In this custom wine cellar project in California and in every wine room that we build, we insulated the walls and ceiling before installing the wine cellar cooling unit. Correct insulation prevents air leakage. It keeps the cold air inside the refrigerated wine cellar and prevents the warm air from entering. Doing it the right way will also prevent mold growth and help the wine cooling unit to function efficiently.
Before choosing a climate control system, we performed a heat load calculation to determine the correct size and capacity of the wine cooling unit needed for the project. After this process, we decided to install a self-contained ducted air handler. The unit was placed outdoors, so no equipment is visible inside the wine room, and no unwanted noise can be heard coming from the wine refrigeration system.
